Henry G. Farley

Historian. Author.

Henry G. Farley, of Sayre, is Mayor of Sayre Borough, elected to that post in 2017. A Towanda native and descendant of the Irish canal workers who came to Bradford County in 1836 he has devoted much of his adult life to the preservation of local history. He is a founding member, past president, and current trustee and secretary of the Sayre Historical Society; Archivist for the Guthrie System; and is also a 30-year trustee of the Bradford County Historical Society and currently president of that organization. Since 2013 he has written a weekly “Looking Back” column for the Sayre Morning Times and is a frequent contributor to the local papers with articles of historic significance. For the past nineteen years he has served as Editor of THE SETTLER the quarterly publication of the Bradford County Historical Society.
